I'm experiencing the same problem with Scribus and the GIMP in a GNU system installed in a real machine using the ISO installer (https://ftp.gnu.org/gnu/guix/guix-system-install-1.0.0.x86_64-linux.iso.xz). Scribus (these are from my Guix on foreign distro experience, but the problem in the GNU system is the same): https://multimedialib.files.wordpress.com/2019/04/scribus-154-splash-2019-04-22.png https://multimedialib.files.wordpress.com/2019/04/scribus-154-dialog-2019-04-22.png https://multimedialib.files.wordpress.com/2019/04/scribus-154-main-2019-04-22.png GIMP (these are taken from the GNU system): https://multimedialib.files.wordpress.com/2019/05/gimp-21010-2019-05-05.png The windows are clipped (extend beyond the screen limits), you can't resize them, and the icons look like zoomed-in bitmaps. The icon problem is minor, but the other problems make it really hard to use the applications as intended. --- https://sirgazil.bitbucket.io/ From unknown Mon Aug 18 04:42:06 2025 X-Loop: help-debbugs@gnu.org Subject: bug#35589: Scribus and GIMP: Clipped, non-resizable windows and pixelated icons Resent-From: Chris Marusich Original-Sender: "Debbugs-submit" Resent-CC: bug-guix@gnu.org Resent-Date: Tue, 07 May 2019 00:40:02 +0000 Resent-Message-ID: Resent-Sender: help-debbugs@gnu.org X-GNU-PR-Message: followup 35589 X-GNU-PR-Package: guix X-GNU-PR-Keywords: To: sirgazil Cc: 35589@debbugs.gnu.org Received: via spool by 35589-submit@debbugs.gnu.org id=B35589.155718958212478 (code B ref 35589); Tue, 07 May 2019 00:40:02 +0000 Received: (at 35589) by debbugs.gnu.org; 7 May 2019 00:39:42 +0000 Received: from localhost ([127.0.0.1]:57825 helo=debbugs.gnu.org) by debbugs.gnu.org with esmtp (Exim 4.84_2) (envelope-from ) id 1hNo90-0003FC-87 for submit@debbugs.gnu.org; Mon, 06 May 2019 20:39:42 -0400 Received: from mail-pl1-f195.google.com ([209.85.214.195]:34178) by debbugs.gnu.org with esmtp (Exim 4.84_2) (envelope-from ) id 1hNo8x-0003Ew-KJ for 35589@debbugs.gnu.org; Mon, 06 May 2019 20:39:40 -0400 Received: by mail-pl1-f195.google.com with SMTP id ck18so7225719plb.1 for <35589@debbugs.gnu.org>; Mon, 06 May 2019 17:39:39 -0700 (PDT) DKIM-Signature: v=1; a=rsa-sha256; c=relaxed/relaxed; d=gmail.com; s=20161025; h=from:to:cc:subject:references:date:in-reply-to:message-id :user-agent:mime-version; bh=gJtdzasDKqdyaCdoFd1KcvTWhiyuLM1CO/7yrHzaK5c=; b=cDBaE0PfT+MOqs1YLTkzpEIlpwqyVan+o5sKBE/wBg874WVIlhcsZ/LrMgGZ2ZHJ2P lLIPGoinjOgJxCEgMkF5c15Ole/4LxFm/rM35sAizO8kQbgZBFwBy82pC+YchDE3UdLb P6qteLOQP6q1G814NUDhBKC7Xb85rA4ZdGOAjEMG/gRoKZzMpwre9sieyUTgE1Cqh62u XiCdGvLUjznPXL4ZWIjesRiz1NLkJ3TYZT4LFDfDAIMwyqiWum/F85lzVCEd8fIr3oVU qvOGnwRcmKgYUOLWS5GqiNQ25INNjyNYGS0PO3ClxgcyKUQesEPgIdxY7MmCHyvs8p6N NCBA== X-Google-DKIM-Signature: v=1; a=rsa-sha256; c=relaxed/relaxed; d=1e100.net; s=20161025; h=x-gm-message-state:from:to:cc:subject:references:date:in-reply-to :message-id:user-agent:mime-version; bh=gJtdzasDKqdyaCdoFd1KcvTWhiyuLM1CO/7yrHzaK5c=; b=dua/5XLKIDgxeK1/MgjDLC+U1wWcJ2CRY918dgOWACsiSLx5mU+D6rD5MPI1JMwRgL zsh60zDLrwtJVBL6oUnThqTvmaY/WMVFf+7hIwY3M8O+rO+LC6zHuQN7QEZk6xgE0WY/ KrmIzSl9aNyP91t236a+OVSFOPYRg5dgsLBYdfa3RMUTth1IueAnBr0OVpAkSdGCB5H/ ln83HcFMV/pTondbFE0vCXNRZRYDQ5wdutdxyJZTcKXdPffu2jKt5rRgyMfWaHEAsfCO Uq3jKEHweA63gK6aNClESbbGlR02xh7iWj/x4b/oS5UF1f5zNh9sNQrpecMazD9rKYpX OjIg== X-Gm-Message-State: APjAAAVQGDB6Rl4v22bcA2+l6tIfragaaAFelIocIiULs8ugxH9YBUKJ YSS7MmqTfWWHLMeWrGVRZY7wASHHy1JBhg== X-Google-Smtp-Source: APXvYqw7RtS+Fi5jorbxqh61to9CG4fearKlhTD7+MLExFpnS5T73TKhp2lml17rGuduz8Kg5Ofwig== X-Received: by 2002:a17:902:2bca:: with SMTP id l68mr35022287plb.301.1557189573453; Mon, 06 May 2019 17:39:33 -0700 (PDT) Received: from garuda.local ([2607:fb90:a68d:69e7:ff1b:a9ae:3578:4368]) by smtp.gmail.com with ESMTPSA id g72sm34748753pfg.63.2019.05.06.17.39.31 (version=TLS1_2 cipher=ECDHE-RSA-CHACHA20-POLY1305 bits=256/256); Mon, 06 May 2019 17:39:31 -0700 (PDT) From: Chris Marusich References: <16a89901a6d.121e9f49339388.5758204174025965968@zoho.com> Date: Mon, 06 May 2019 17:39:29 -0700 In-Reply-To: <16a89901a6d.121e9f49339388.5758204174025965968@zoho.com> (sirgazil's message of "Sun, 05 May 2019 14:54:43 -0500") Message-ID: <874l67yu66.fsf@gmail.com> User-Agent: Gnus/5.13 (Gnus v5.13) Emacs/26.1 (gnu/linux) MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: multipart/signed; boundary="=-=-="; micalg=pgp-sha256; protocol="application/pgp-signature" X-Spam-Score: 0.0 (/) X-BeenThere: debbugs-submit@debbugs.gnu.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.18 Precedence: list List-Id: List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , Errors-To: debbugs-submit-bounces@debbugs.gnu.org Sender: "Debbugs-submit" X-Spam-Score: -1.0 (-) --=-=-= Content-Type: text/plain Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable sirgazil writes: > Hi, > > A few days ago I mentioned an issue with a Scribus installed on a > foreign distribution using Guix > (https://lists.gnu.org/archive/html/help-guix/2019-04/msg00249.html). The gimp and scribus programs do not appear to render icons incorrectly, their windows are resizable, and their windows are not clipped. Can you reproduce the issue in a VM? You can try with the "guix system vm" command; you might need to slightly customize your OS config file. If you aren't sure how to do that, just let me know, and I'll try to help. =2D-=20 Chris --=-=-= Content-Type: application/pgp-signature; name="signature.asc" -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- iQIzBAEBCAAdFiEEy/WXVcvn5+/vGD+x3UCaFdgiRp0FAlzQ08IACgkQ3UCaFdgi Rp2B6w//YO78DGNQ2VoFooAe/wE9oyGpwHQAMElfh0rzdTBMKnf1LPkAB/z1cmHQ p/zUUBIEzN6ZSFlPan4O7hOrOjUDvbh8EU97gUf0fIw8tQgeyCnhgvLurFJphLyc GES+xsWQEO/ZosHHRuky0/V2aSWyOYDIypTRNKcTddF6l6hr6fdUHQK1pCVG7ogk rbNVRDRIYbT0InoReg34vRJhk3zGBOBGB49q69T6EZaCJWpy1CXCzjP+ZTGpRUmR sWuBYhncuF9ho5aEMNEc0z1BL1XtHVSvRBY3+1yVsefsW7WNRIKN3PYA+NwyG2DR gtTDy87DT3+eblJfeJgAojE8rghxk+Q7TwgYEsr6oAOSV8gAybg7SAaAQlX+qcY8 h42f54zQyITiFd9fvFQhk6c7KbthTv8In8wePacVXYjT1mT0gvwAxnixm6udEuFZ Oy2MUdi4KEpFLQrKfmRd72vbtj05BLup6shfvWlXLT/tzffJvn0clJxHnjFU/5w+ 1XmZ72CnEvAjAoWbbs4ENmrAXF8+O9eZY4lLe55JMxPrlEfWELina+YASsSNV2eP sUTrN+JzVBBpfIC5eudoRKkvu1lqSQfAGGElm5+Yv/WHdYQleTMcn47a2xiTfdHL zCx5TZqIGEt3xQUZVe8O52g6v+XjI3RrAwr1zQPv5ULdFUBdy8A= =+GUl -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- --=-=-=-- From unknown Mon Aug 18 04:42:06 2025 X-Loop: help-debbugs@gnu.org Subject: bug#35589: Scribus and GIMP: Clipped, non-resizable windows and pixelated icons Resent-From: sirgazil Original-Sender: "Debbugs-submit" Resent-CC: bug-guix@gnu.org Resent-Date: Tue, 07 May 2019 16:53:02 +0000 Resent-Message-ID: Resent-Sender: help-debbugs@gnu.org X-GNU-PR-Message: followup 35589 X-GNU-PR-Package: guix X-GNU-PR-Keywords: To: "Chris Marusich" Cc: 35589 <35589@debbugs.gnu.org> Received: via spool by 35589-submit@debbugs.gnu.org id=B35589.15572479721148 (code B ref 35589); I'm experiencing the same problem with Scribus and the GIMP in a GNU system installed in a real machine using the ISO installer (https://ftp.gnu.org/gnu/guix/guix-system-install-1.0.0.x86_64-linux.iso.xz). Scribus (these are from my Guix on foreign distro experience, but the problem in the GNU system is the same): https://multimedialib.files.wordpress.com/2019/04/scribus-154-splash-2019-04-22.png https://multimedialib.files.wordpress.com/2019/04/scribus-154-dialog-2019-04-22.png https://multimedialib.files.wordpress.com/2019/04/scribus-154-main-2019-04-22.png GIMP (these are taken from the GNU system): https://multimedialib.files.wordpress.com/2019/05/gimp-21010-2019-05-05.png The windows are clipped (extend beyond the screen limits), you can't resize them, and the icons look like zoomed-in bitmaps. The icon problem is minor, but the other problems make it really hard to use the applications as intended. --- https://sirgazil.bitbucket.io/ ------------=_1601226482-27820-1--
