Subject: Feature-Requests: text field history
Date: Fri, 15 Mar 2019 15:27:04 +0100 (CET)
Hello Emacs maintainers,

I have some feature requests:

1. Most practical request: There is interest in an input history for the search text field in the customization buffer: https://emacs.stackexchange.com/q/48325/2370. A naive solution is provided on the same page. It is quite hacky since it advises the existing customization buffer.

2. For the implementation of the feature in item 1 I would very much appreciate a text field with history in the widget library.

3. For the implementation of the text field widget history it would be very nice if the history part of the minibuffer history in simple.el would be transformed into an abstract history library that can be re-used for the minibuffer history as well as the widget history. Something like isearch and completion would work in general histories as well.

Best regards,
Tobias
