In *scratch* buffer, use MS Japanese IME to enter 'w' 'a' 't' 'a' 's' 'h' 'i'.
Then press enter twice.
The *scratch* buffer got 2 '私' characters.

(I'm going through old bug reports that unfortunately didn't get any
response at the time.)

This was ten years ago -- is this bug still present in modern versions
of Emacs?  If so, can you tell how to reproduce it starting from
"emacs -Q"?

I'm closing this bug.  If this is still an issue, please reply to this
email (use "Reply to all" in your email client) and we can reopen the
