RESOURCE-VALUES should have the same format that you would use inside a file of X resources. To include multiple resource specifications in RESOURCE-VALUES, put a newline between them, just as you would in a file. You can also use =E2=80=98#include "FILENAM= E"=E2=80=99 to include a file full of resource specifications. Resource values specified with =E2=80=98-xrm=E2=80=99 take precedence over all other= resource specifications. Mention if it nullifies all Emacs entries in .Xresources, or just overrides matching ones. Also on man emacs You can set X default values for your Emacs windows in your .Xresources file (see xrdb(1)). Use the following format: emacs.keyword:value but do mention -xrm there on the man page, so people don't have to bother with the .Xresources file just to try a quick item. P.S., at the bottom of the man page we see GNU Emacs 26.1 2007 April 13 EMACS(1) which looks new on the left but old in the middle, here on Debian. It says that the values takes precedence over the other, so "nullifies" isn't something I think people would interpret that as. That is, it doesn't sound ambiguous to me, and I've never read that bit before. --=20 (domestic pets only, the antidote for overdose, milk.) bloggy blog: http://lars.ingebrigtsen.no From debbugs-submit-bounces@debbugs.gnu.org Tue Jul 09 18:26:14 2019 Received: (at control) by debbugs.gnu.org; 9 Jul 2019 22:26:14 +0000 Received: from localhost ([127.0.0.1]:34453 helo=debbugs.gnu.org) by debbugs.gnu.org with esmtp (Exim 4.84_2) (envelope-from ) id 1hkyYw-0004st-5n for submit@debbugs.gnu.org; Tue, 09 Jul 2019 18:26:14 -0400 Received: from quimby.gnus.org ([80.91.231.51]:54800) by debbugs.gnu.org with esmtp (Exim 4.84_2) (envelope-from ) id 1hkyYv-0004sm-4w for control@debbugs.gnu.org; Tue, 09 Jul 2019 18:26:13 -0400 Received: from cm-84.212.202.86.getinternet.no ([84.212.202.86] helo=marnie) by quimby.gnus.org with esmtpsa (TLS1.2:ECDHE_RSA_AES_256_GCM_SHA384:256) (Exim 4.89) (envelope-from ) id 1hkyYs-0001WD-KH for control@debbugs.gnu.org; Wed, 10 Jul 2019 00:26:12 +0200 Date: Wed, 10 Jul 2019 00:26:10 +0200 Message-Id: <87y316q1z1.fsf@mouse.gnus.org> To: control@debbugs.gnu.org From: Lars Ingebrigtsen Subject: control message for bug #34002 X-Spam-Report: Spam detection software, running on the system "quimby.gnus.org", has NOT identified this incoming email as spam.
