There's an issue with the following XML file:

<root>
<a>don't</a>
<a>text</a>
<a>></a>
<a>don't</a>
<a>text</a>
</root>

where highlighting becomes wrong starting at the second '.

However, even though > is valid, I normally use &gt; instead.
