I'd be great if Emacs could generate events every time the clipboard or
the primary selection is modified.

E.g. it would make it possible to implement `gpastel-mode`
(http://elpa.gnu.org/packages/gpastel.html) without relying on an
external daemon.  It would also let
https://github.com/clemera/clipboard-collector do its job without
constantly polling the current clipboard contents to see if it changed.
