Your bug report will be posted to the bug-gnu-emacs@gnu.org mailing list, and to the gnu.emacs.bug news group. Please describe exactly what actions triggered the bug and the precise symptoms of the bug: emacs -Q M-x compile echo % /etc/issue:1:1 (So in stead of doing a real make with real errors, I have just issued an echo to simulate actual error messages. See also the recent keys below that contain all keys typed.) The compilation buffer now contains incorrectly highlighted (red) text. Not only the file name, but also the % is highlighted red. When typing C-c C-c (compile-goto-error) on that highlighted text I get the prompt (not shown in *Messages* below): Find this error in (default % /etc/issue): The file name "% /etc/issue" is considered in stead of /etc/issue. This problem occurs when using the plunit-package in SWI-Prolog. For all intents and purposes there is no way to resolve this on the side of SWI by changing the actual message format - this is intimately mingled to the widely used (almost standard) error-reporting mechanism in Prolog. If Emacs crashed, and you have the Emacs process in the gdb debugger, please include the output from the following gdb commands: `bt full' and `xbacktrace'. If you would like to further debug the crash, please read the file /opt/gupu/share/emacs/22.2/etc/DEBUG for instructions. This sounds like you need to add support to `compilation-error-regexp-alist-alist' for this "widely used (almost standard) error-reporting mechanism in Prolog" From debbugs-submit-bounces@debbugs.gnu.org Sun Sep 11 13:14:47 2011 Received: (at control) by debbugs.gnu.org; 11 Sep 2011 17:14:47 +0000 Received: from localhost ([127.0.0.1] helo=debbugs.gnu.org) by debbugs.gnu.org with esmtp (Exim 4.69) (envelope-from ) id 1R2ncF-0001ao-Kb for submit@debbugs.gnu.org; Sun, 11 Sep 2011 13:14:47 -0400 Received: from hermes.netfonds.no ([80.91.224.195]) by debbugs.gnu.org with esmtp (Exim 4.69) (envelope-from ) id 1R2ncE-0001ag-IU for control@debbugs.gnu.org; Sun, 11 Sep 2011 13:14:46 -0400 Received: from cm-84.215.51.58.getinternet.no ([84.215.51.58] helo=stories.gnus.org) by hermes.netfonds.no with esmtpsa (TLS1.0:DHE_RSA_AES_128_CBC_SHA1:16) (Exim 4.72) (envelope-from ) id 1R2nY0-00036F-2K for control@debbugs.gnu.org; Sun, 11 Sep 2011 19:10:24 +0200 Date: Sun, 11 Sep 2011 19:07:23 +0200 Message-Id: To: control@debbugs.gnu.org From: Lars Magne Ingebrigtsen Subject: control message for bug #338 X-MailScanner-ID: 1R2nY0-00036F-2K X-Netfonds-MailScanner: Found to be clean X-Netfonds-MailScanner-From: larsi@gnus.org MailScanner-NULL-Check: 1316365824.2471@/jSIhP4kBA4qgCzfwiyiWw X-Spam-Status: No X-Spam-Score: -2.7 (--) X-Debbugs-Envelope-To: control X-BeenThere: debbugs-submit@debbugs.gnu.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.11 Precedence: list List-Id: List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , Sender: debbugs-submit-bounces@debbugs.gnu.org Errors-To: debbugs-submit-bounces@debbugs.gnu.org X-Spam-Score: -2.7 (--) tags 338 notabug close 338 From debbugs-submit-bounces@debbugs.gnu.org Sun Sep 11 13:38:02 2011 Received: (at 338) by debbugs.gnu.org; 11 Sep 2011 17:38:03 +0000 Received: from localhost ([127.0.0.1] helo=debbugs.gnu.org) by debbugs.gnu.org with esmtp (Exim 4.69) (envelope-from ) id 1R2nyg-0003gB-4n for submit@debbugs.gnu.org; Sun, 11 Sep 2011 13:38:02 -0400 Received: from hermes.netfonds.no ([80.91.224.195]) by debbugs.gnu.org with esmtp (Exim 4.69) (envelope-from ) id 1R2nyY-0003fi-DC for 338@debbugs.gnu.org; Sun, 11 Sep 2011 13:37:51 -0400 Received: from cm-84.215.51.58.getinternet.no ([84.215.51.58] helo=stories.gnus.org) by hermes.netfonds.no with esmtpsa (TLS1.0:DHE_RSA_AES_128_CBC_SHA1:16) (Exim 4.72) (envelope-from ) id 1R2nuI-0003c6-Jl; Sun, 11 Sep 2011 19:33:26 +0200 From: Lars Magne Ingebrigtsen To: Dan Nicolaescu Subject: Re: bug#338: Compilation mode: file positions incorrectly identified In-Reply-To: <200812281844.mBSIiC91022756@mothra.ics.uci.edu> (Dan Nicolaescu's message of "Sun, 28 Dec 2008 10:44:12 -0800 (PST)") Date: Sun, 11 Sep 2011 19:07:18 +0200 Message-ID: References: <200812281844.mBSIiC91022756@mothra.ics.uci.edu> User-Agent: Gnus/5.110018 (No Gnus v0.18) Emacs/24.0.50 (gnu/linux) X-Now-Playing: Various's _Not Alone (3)_: "Isobel Campbell - The Beat Goes On" MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain X-MailScanner-ID: 1R2nuI-0003c6-Jl X-Netfonds-MailScanner: Found to be clean X-Netfonds-MailScanner-From: larsi@gnus.org MailScanner-NULL-Check: 1316367206.69664@wN5aiQxDhC86tba74Pxlog X-Spam-Status: No X-Spam-Score: -2.7 (--) X-Debbugs-Envelope-To: 338 Cc: 338@debbugs.gnu.org, Ulrich Neumerkel X-BeenThere: debbugs-submit@debbugs.gnu.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.11 Precedence: list List-Id: List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , Sender: debbugs-submit-bounces@debbugs.gnu.org Errors-To: debbugs-submit-bounces@debbugs.gnu.org X-Spam-Score: -2.7 (--) Dan Nicolaescu writes: > This sounds like you need to add support to > `compilation-error-regexp-alist-alist' for this > "widely used (almost standard) error-reporting mechanism in Prolog" Yes, it doesn't sound like a bug in `M-x compile' in Emacs, so I'm closing this report. -- (domestic pets only, the antidote for overdose, milk.) bloggy blog http://lars.ingebrigtsen.no/ From unknown Fri Jun 20 07:16:19 2025 Received: (at fakecontrol) by fakecontrolmessage; To: internal_control@debbugs.gnu.org From: Debbugs Internal Request Subject: Internal Control Message-Id: bug archived.
