Visit Elisp manual, node Mode Line Variables. Compare this with what
is shown by C-h v default-mode-line-format.
 
These mode-line variables are used in the default (standard)
mode-line, but they are missing from the Elisp doc:
 
mode-line-client
mode-line-remote

I've now documented these two.

But somebody should look at the documentation to see whether I've
understood what they are supposed to do correctly.  :-)
