Please describe exactly what actions triggered the bug
and the precise symptoms of the bug:

I don't remember what I was doing, but emacs became non-responsive.  I
tried to run gdb on the application from inside an emacs source
directory and attach to the frozen process.  xbacktrace produced no
output at all.  bt yielded:
