i tried to build the lastest version of emacs 23 from CVS on my FC10
machine (2.6.27.19-170.2.35.fc10.x86_64) and it core dumps as it
starts the byte compile phase. the glibc version is glibc-2.9-3.x86_64

this turned out to be a link error and when prelink ran overnight the
issue went away. you can close this bug as invalid.
