There is an error in the patch:

In toplevel form:
loadhist.el:192:40:Error: Invalid read syntax: ")"

After fixing this, `tramp-test39-unload' still passes the test. You
might push the patch.

That's my original question: what does it take to unload a `define-type'
entry?
