25.1; gnus open attachement instead of sending message

My gnus, all of the sudden, whenever I attach a file to a message and
try sending it gnus try opening it with an external program and not
sending the message!!

That sounds very odd.  Could you try to (setq debug-on-quit t) and then
`C-g' when it opens the mail with an external program and post the
backtrace?
