Weird that the problem is intermittent. Can you memtest your RAM? Perhaps there are multiple gmp versions on the system and sometimes the wrong one is used? (that's really stretching) BTW it would be better to configure your coreutils build --without-gmp That is done for the coreutils-single package in Fedora for example, as the relatively large overhead of GMP for just factor and expr is not a good tradeoff in the single binary use case. cheers, Pádraig. Interesting tradeoff. That would increase the single binary install by about 10% (factor(86K), expr(40K)), while keeping the same functionality. Maybe something like: if --enable-single-binary && !--with-gmp && HAVE_GMP --enable-single-binary-exceptions=factor,expr I'll think about it. cheers, Pádraig From unknown Sun Jun 15 09:00:46 2025 X-Loop: help-debbugs@gnu.org Subject: bug#24846: error while loading shared libraries: libgmp.so.10: unexpected PLT reloc type 0x40 Resent-From: Yan Markman Original-Sender: "Debbugs-submit" Resent-CC: bug-coreutils@gnu.org Resent-Date: Tue, 01 Nov 2016 17:16:01 +0000 Resent-Message-ID: Resent-Sender: help-debbugs@gnu.org X-GNU-PR-Message: followup 24846 X-GNU-PR-Package: coreutils X-GNU-PR-Keywords: To: =?UTF-8?Q?P=C3=A1draig?= Brady , "24846@debbugs.gnu.org" <24846@debbugs.gnu.org> Received: via spool by 24846-submit@debbugs.gnu.org id=B24846.147802054725426 (code B ref 24846); Tue, 01 Nov 2016 17:16:01 +0000 Received: (at 24846) by debbugs.gnu.org; 1 Nov 2016 17:15:47 +0000 Received: from localhost ([127.0.0.1]:39253 helo=debbugs.gnu.org) by debbugs.gnu.org with esmtp (Exim 4.84_2) (envelope-from ) id 1c1cf4-0006bz-OX for submit@debbugs.gnu.org; Tue, 01 Nov 2016 13:15:47 -0400 Received: from mx0a-0016f401.pphosted.com ([67.231.148.174]:45438 helo=mx0b-0016f401.pphosted.com) by debbugs.gnu.org with esmtp (Exim 4.84_2) (envelope-from ) id 1c1caU-0006V4-Re for 24846@debbugs.gnu.org; Tue, 01 Nov 2016 13:11:03 -0400 Received: from pps.filterd (m0045849.ppops.net [127.0.0.1]) by mx0a-0016f401.pphosted.com (8.16.0.17/8.16.0.17) with SMTP id uA1H9ZLR007540; Tue, 1 Nov 2016 10:11:01 -0700 Received: from il-exch02.marvell.com ([199.203.130.102]) by mx0a-0016f401.pphosted.com with ESMTP id 26d08d3khp-1 (version=TLSv1.2 cipher=ECDHE-RSA-AES256-SHA384 bits=256 verify=NOT); Tue, 01 Nov 2016 10:11:01 -0700 Received: from IL-EXCH01.marvell.com (10.4.102.220) by IL-EXCH02.marvell.com (10.4.102.221) with Microsoft SMTP Server (TLS) id 15.0.1104.5; Tue, 1 Nov 2016 19:10:58 +0200 Received: from IL-EXCH01.marvell.com ([fe80::5d63:81cd:31e2:fc36]) by IL-EXCH01.marvell.com ([fe80::5d63:81cd:31e2:fc36%20]) with mapi id 15.00.1104.000; Tue, 1 Nov 2016 19:10:58 +0200 From: Yan Markman Thread-Topic: bug#24846: error while loading shared libraries: libgmp.so.10: unexpected PLT reloc type 0x40 Thread-Index: AdI0KqXPMhjpqlEtT5eLxz6xtZtHOgAHtjiAAAXdYNA= Date: Tue, 1 Nov 2016 17:10:57 +0000 Message-ID: <99146939e4514841ac0a14ba3b523a04@IL-EXCH01.marvell.com> References: <7a78b863d7274e49a716eb128868dec2@IL-EXCH01.marvell.com> <22688635-b4f6-9639-72d4-eeee1f5f7880@draigBrady.com> In-Reply-To: <22688635-b4f6-9639-72d4-eeee1f5f7880@draigBrady.com> Accept-Language: en-US Content-Language: en-US X-MS-Has-Attach: X-MS-TNEF-Correlator: x-ms-exchange-transport-fromentityheader: Hosted x-originating-ip: [10.4.102.210] Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1" Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable MIME-Version: 1.0 X-Proofpoint-Virus-Version: vendor=fsecure engine=2.50.10432:, , definitions=2016-11-01_04:, , signatures=0 X-Proofpoint-Details: rule=outbound_notspam policy=outbound score=0 priorityscore=1501 malwarescore=0 suspectscore=0 phishscore=0 bulkscore=0 spamscore=0 clxscore=1011 lowpriorityscore=0 impostorscore=0 adultscore=0 classifier=spam adjust=0 reason=mlx scancount=1 engine=8.0.1-1609300000 definitions=main-1611010298 X-Spam-Score: -0.7 (/) X-Mailman-Approved-At: Tue, 01 Nov 2016 13:15:46 -0400 X-BeenThere: debbugs-submit@debbugs.gnu.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.18 Precedence: list List-Id: List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , Errors-To: debbugs-submit-bounces@debbugs.gnu.org Sender: "Debbugs-submit" X-Spam-Score: -0.7 (/) Thanks P=E1draig I think that described failure is only a symptom of more generic problem. just occasionally failing on coreutils::ls command.
