The doc string of `dired-do-rename-regexp' says this, about the
replacement pattern:

  NEWNAME may contain \\=\\<n> or \\& as in `query-replace-regexp'.

It does not say that it also supports the other syntax constructs that
`query-replace-regexp' supports for the replacement pattern, so this is
not a bug report per se, but rather an enhancement request.

Please enable `dired-do-rename-regexp' to fully support the replacement
patterns that `query-replace-regexp' supports.
