Thanks for the heads-up again. I installed the attached patch into emacs-25 and 
am closing Bug#24247.

The latest version of gnutls-cli no longer outputs "- Handshake was
completed", which lisp/net/tls.el relies upon (`tls-success` on L123).

This breaks at least Gnus and jabber.el (for me, anyway) - the latter
falls back to openssl_client after a while.

I have filed this bug against gnutls-bin in Debian:
