In picture-mode, typing abc upon
一二三一二三
gives:
abc一二三 (bad), whereas in overwrite mode (better):
a b c 一二三
I'm not sure what mode would give
abc 三一二三 (best, perhaps).

This is already fixed for the next release (see bug#1808).
