Emacs crashes when closing a full-screen frame in OS X 10.11.2. The
steps to reproduce:

1.) "emacs -Q"

2.) click the OS X full-screen widget: emacs fills the screen (as
expected)

3.) C-x 5 2, opens a second full-screen frame (as expected)

4.) C-x 5 0, crashes (rather than closing the second frame, which is
what I expected)

Alternatively, *4.) click the OS X close-window widget, also crashes

If instead, I click the OS X full-screen widget first, returning it to
non-full screen, I can close the frame theme without repercussions.


Apologies for the ridiculous feature list on this email, I can't quite
understand how to send the message within "emacs -Q". I'm getting my
head around Emacs coding, but don't have the skills to debug this. If I
can be helpful though, please let me know. I'm eager, if inexperienced.

Hi!

I don't see this behaviour, however I run 10.10.

There has been some work done in this area -- Can you try this on
development version of 25.1 and see if the problems exists there? (A
"nightie" from http://emacsforosx.com/builds would do.)

If you still get the crash, can you run it under "gdb" to see where the
crash occurs?

Ps. I noticed a regression between 24.5 and 25.1. When the second frame is
closed, the first is incorrectly placed, it is placed too low in what
appears to be the height corresponding to a menu bar (which obviously isn't
present).

It seems that 25 fixes the problem. The bug does NOT occur with
Emacs-2016-01-24_01-41-01-8cdb9ac0fb060366bc823de84ecdba258716addb-universal.dmg
from that address. I also checked the build of 24 up there (
Emacs-24.5-1-universal.dmg ) and it still has the same bug, but I can
confirm that the bug is gone in that nightly build of 25.

I'm totally happy to help debug the problem in 24, as it would be an
excuse to understand the development process better, but I'm also happy
to wait for 25.1 to become stable, which seems imminent.

Say the word and I'll figure out how to compile a debugging version of
24 (I just managed to codesign gdb), but I suspect that energy may be
better spent on 25.

of the regression I noticed.

No need, as it is fixed in Emacs 25.

Of course, if you feel like contributing to NS interface in Emacs 25,
you're more than welcome, as the long time maintainer retired last year.
