Just to point out that there are even more functions for netrc parsing
in Emacs, as pointed out three years ago in http://debbugs.gnu.org/12511
(of which this report is a duplicate).
At the time it seemed to me that ange-ftp-parse-netrc looked
like it might handle newlines.
