Summary: 'parted -s' cannot create file systems any more
Category: parted
Group: None
Resolution: None

Initial Comment:
A 'parted -s' command to create a file system results in a warning message, exits immediately, and does nothing. For example:

  # parted -s /dev/hda mkfs 5 ext2
Warning: The existing file system will be destroyed and all data on the
partition will be lost. Do you want to continue?

This used to work in 1.7.1, but not any more since at least 1.8.2.

Message:
This bug can be closed, because parted does not support creating filesystems any more.

In the README file:
"Most FS-related functionality was removed after Parted 2.4.
Thus, the following commands are no longer supported:
mkpartfs, mkfs, cp, move, check, resize."
