I can't reproduce this bug, even Emacs 22.1.  Maybe it's cause by
something in your init file.  Can you reproduce it with `emacs -Q'
and/or with an unmodified emacs 22 as distributed from
http://ftp.gnu.org/pub/gnu/emacs/?
