This is not a bug report, but there doesn't seem to be any better
place for my question than this, so I'm asking it here.

    According to the manual:

: In addition, the variant programs egrep and fgrep are the same as grep
: -E and grep -F, respectively. These variants are deprecated, but are
: provided for backward compatibility.

Is there any plan to remove support for fgrep and egrep in the
predictible future? If yes, is there any timeline set for that action?

No. That being said, there's no rush to remove it. If and when it's removed I
assume the removal will be an install-time option.
