Do you have Aspell, Ispell or Hunspell installed on your system?  If so,
you can try adding this to your init file:

    (setq ispell-program-name "/path/to/ispell")

If not, you can try installing Aspell with Homebrew:

    $ brew install aspell --with-all-langs
