Which is annoying. Following structure I would like to have: Gnus common Debian common DAM FTPMaster common rejects overrides cron DAM common cron Mailinglists DebConf common admin Mailinglists OFTC common admin Mailinglists [... and so on ...] What Gnus forces me to have is instead Gnus common Debian Debian common DAM FTPMaster FTPMaster common rejects overrides FTPMaster cron DAM DAM common cron Debian Mailinglists DebConf DebConf common DebConf admin DebConf Mailinglists OFTC OFTC common OFTC admin OFTC Mailinglists That is a load of unneeded repetitions making it ugly. I would love if gnus allows topics to be unique only within a topic level. Yes, that may mean one can no longer use tab/backtab to (un)indent topics and entirely freely move them around - or if one does it would be valid for gnus to either complain or append randomness to the name until its unique again. True, it would be better if the topics didn't have to be unique, but I think it would be too much work to change this now. And, as you point out, moving topics around would potentially create collisions and stuff, so I don't think it's worth it. -- (domestic pets only, the antidote for overdose, milk.) bloggy blog: http://lars.ingebrigtsen.no From debbugs-submit-bounces@debbugs.gnu.org Thu Jan 26 13:11:29 2017 Received: (at control) by debbugs.gnu.org; 26 Jan 2017 18:11:30 +0000 Received: from localhost ([127.0.0.1]:45861 helo=debbugs.gnu.org) by debbugs.gnu.org with esmtp (Exim 4.84_2) (envelope-from ) id 1cWoW9-0005Py-Oi for submit@debbugs.gnu.org; Thu, 26 Jan 2017 13:11:29 -0500 Received: from hermes.netfonds.no ([80.91.224.195]:55862) by debbugs.gnu.org with esmtp (Exim 4.84_2) (envelope-from ) id 1cWoW8-0005Pq-CJ for control@debbugs.gnu.org; Thu, 26 Jan 2017 13:11:28 -0500 Received: from 2.150.50.220.tmi.telenormobil.no ([2.150.50.220] helo=mouse) by hermes.netfonds.no with esmtpsa (TLS1.2:ECDHE_RSA_AES_256_GCM_SHA384:256) (Exim 4.84_2) (envelope-from ) id 1cWoW6-0005xT-8R for control@debbugs.gnu.org; Thu, 26 Jan 2017 19:11:27 +0100 From: Lars Ingebrigtsen To: control@debbugs.gnu.org Subject: control message for bug #20447 Message-ID: <874m0lzork.fsf@totally-fudged-out-message-id> Date: Thu, 26 Jan 2017 19:11:20 +0100 User-Agent: Gnus/5.13 (Gnus v5.13) Emacs/26.0.50 (gnu/linux) X-Spam-Score: 0.0 (/) X-Debbugs-Envelope-To: control X-BeenThere: debbugs-submit@debbugs.gnu.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.18 Precedence: list List-Id: List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , Errors-To: debbugs-submit-bounces@debbugs.gnu.org Sender: "Debbugs-submit" X-Spam-Score: 0.0 (/) reassign 20447 emacs, gnus From debbugs-submit-bounces@debbugs.gnu.org Thu Jan 26 13:11:46 2017 Received: (at control) by debbugs.gnu.org; 26 Jan 2017 18:11:46 +0000 Received: from localhost ([127.0.0.1]:45867 helo=debbugs.gnu.org) by debbugs.gnu.org with esmtp (Exim 4.84_2) (envelope-from ) id 1cWoWP-0005Qg-6S for submit@debbugs.gnu.org; Thu, 26 Jan 2017 13:11:46 -0500 Received: from hermes.netfonds.no ([80.91.224.195]:55880) by debbugs.gnu.org with esmtp (Exim 4.84_2) (envelope-from ) id 1cWoWO-0005QX-2m for control@debbugs.gnu.org; Thu, 26 Jan 2017 13:11:44 -0500 Received: from 2.150.50.220.tmi.telenormobil.no ([2.150.50.220] helo=mouse) by hermes.netfonds.no with esmtpsa (TLS1.2:ECDHE_RSA_AES_256_GCM_SHA384:256) (Exim 4.84_2) (envelope-from ) id 1cWoWL-0007DF-UM for control@debbugs.gnu.org; Thu, 26 Jan 2017 19:11:43 +0100 From: Lars Ingebrigtsen To: control@debbugs.gnu.org Subject: control message for bug #20447 Message-ID: <87y3xxya4a.fsf@totally-fudged-out-message-id> Date: Thu, 26 Jan 2017 19:11:36 +0100 User-Agent: Gnus/5.13 (Gnus v5.13) Emacs/26.0.50 (gnu/linux) X-Spam-Score: 0.0 (/) X-Debbugs-Envelope-To: control X-BeenThere: debbugs-submit@debbugs.gnu.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.18 Precedence: list List-Id: List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , Errors-To: debbugs-submit-bounces@debbugs.gnu.org Sender: "Debbugs-submit" X-Spam-Score: 0.0 (/) tags 20447 wontfix close 20447 From unknown Tue Aug 19 21:03:25 2025 Received: (at fakecontrol) by fakecontrolmessage; To: internal_control@debbugs.gnu.org From: Debbugs Internal Request Subject: Internal Control Message-Id: bug archived.
