In special-mode ?g is bound to `revert-buffer'. But todo mode doesn't
recognize files with extension \.todo nor files under `todo-directory'
should be opened in TODO mode so the file was reverted to
fundamental-mode.

IMO `todo-mode' should do the necessary setup to make the buffer a todo
mode buffer. Or rebind ?g to update/reload the current todo file.
