I cannot reproduce this here with CVS on 2008/01/21 2pm or so GMT.   
If you still can, could you please build with -g and investigate the  
following variables in the menuNeedsUpdate function where the crash  
happens?

frame
frame->output_data
frame->output_data.ns
*(frame->output_data.ns)
