Some have raised the issue that egrep and fgrep are now shell scripts (they were executables in 2.18), and thus won't work in a system without a bourne shell. We expect to accommodate the usage of those obsolescent wrappers for "grep -E" and "grep -F" on such fringe systems with a 2.20 release that will follow soon after. I expect to release grep-2.19 tomorrow or Thursday, so any testing you can do before then would be most welcome. grep snapshot: http://meyering.net/grep/grep-ss.tar.xz 1.2 MB http://meyering.net/grep/grep-ss.tar.xz.sig http://meyering.net/grep/grep-2.18.146-ebf3.tar.xz Changes in grep since 2.18.143-b298: Jim Meyering (2): maint: NEWS: move "Improvements" to the top maint: NEWS: adjust wording to reflect move Paul Eggert (1): egrep, fgrep: port to Solaris 10 /bin/sh Changes in gnulib since 2.18.143-b298: * gnulib a0712c3...c2e80b7 (3): > update from texinfo > autoupdate > autoupdate From debbugs-submit-bounces@debbugs.gnu.org Wed May 14 15:23:27 2014 Received: (at 17493) by debbugs.gnu.org; 14 May 2014 19:23:27 +0000 Received: from localhost ([127.0.0.1]:34814 helo=debbugs.gnu.org) by debbugs.gnu.org with esmtp (Exim 4.80) (envelope-from ) id 1Wkely-0001ct-Rt for submit@debbugs.gnu.org; Wed, 14 May 2014 15:23:27 -0400 Received: from mail-ee0-f50.google.com ([74.125.83.50]:61456) by debbugs.gnu.org with esmtp (Exim 4.80) (envelope-from ) id 1Wkelw-0001cc-9W for 17493@debbugs.gnu.org; Wed, 14 May 2014 15:23:24 -0400 Received: by mail-ee0-f50.google.com with SMTP id e51so23521eek.37 for <17493@debbugs.gnu.org>; Wed, 14 May 2014 12:23:18 -0700 (PDT) DKIM-Signature: v=1; a=rsa-sha256; c=relaxed/relaxed; d=gmail.com; s=20120113; h=sender:message-id:date:from:user-agent:mime-version:to:cc:subject :references:in-reply-to:content-type:content-transfer-encoding; bh=GKeOqBo+9V8FcQuHgie7mXrNp2LpGsG69SDlXNreqWk=; b=dUhauNYTyptQjg2lC5eo9zDiWzrwbhtlpqVjwguqfmiT+GQACM4dUi6JonIkgYsxZg EIs+L+JFOZLjSRbYIYC6+F7Rzf4svtB5KH1aJO2h1NepDfVlVm4/5Q5C+S4USnPZG1nI Wxn1PDX8nbdRHfmZSH4njKQf/tWMKRVy09ifPXsGn7rPVG8sAosCCiek2O8lVgOi3K69 PYtaWq6TlceXyZ/0Zua4dcGu/hCXvjZBq3Uhdirlkqkk1TbQOFCNb5OI6AK+60zytnB2 z7TmuOEc4jkgntLoPgn6I3KgsUFYw9JCvsEyP6cyIR3J1hCSs9vRzICRxfgGYOmVLhXj dFTw== X-Received: by 10.14.219.67 with SMTP id l43mr7981541eep.0.1400095398468; Wed, 14 May 2014 12:23:18 -0700 (PDT) Received: from yakj.usersys.redhat.com (net-37-117-141-58.cust.vodafonedsl.it.
