That doesn't work because there are not enough CEDET developers. Our resources are stretched thin with maintaining the stuff that is already in Emacs, so I'm not inclined to merge more, largely untested code which I myself don't use. However, if someone volunteers to act as maintainer for one those packages, I'd merge them, although whoever wants to maintain the Android project should make sure the head of the FSF is OK with it being in Emacs, and I can't imagine anyone eager to start that discussion... -David From debbugs-submit-bounces@debbugs.gnu.org Thu Mar 20 11:43:42 2014 Received: (at 17030-done) by debbugs.gnu.org; 20 Mar 2014 15:43:42 +0000 Received: from localhost ([127.0.0.1]:42441 helo=debbugs.gnu.org) by debbugs.gnu.org with esmtp (Exim 4.80) (envelope-from ) id 1WQf8A-0001De-B5 for submit@debbugs.gnu.org; Thu, 20 Mar 2014 11:43:42 -0400 Received: from mail-wi0-f175.google.com ([209.85.212.175]:61949) by debbugs.gnu.org with esmtp (Exim 4.80) (envelope-from ) id 1WQf88-0001DU-DU for 17030-done@debbugs.gnu.org; Thu, 20 Mar 2014 11:43:40 -0400 Received: by mail-wi0-f175.google.com with SMTP id cc10so6401120wib.2 for <17030-done@debbugs.gnu.org>; Thu, 20 Mar 2014 08:43:39 -0700 (PDT) DKIM-Signature: v=1; a=rsa-sha256; c=relaxed/relaxed; d=gmail.com; s=20120113; h=sender:message-id:date:from:user-agent:mime-version:to:cc:subject :references:in-reply-to:content-type:content-transfer-encoding; bh=rWhO8mziYGzKULxjBw5Jyw268x5BaDV1NM8os9FgLtI=; b=ASKveq/mKBXmF5v2Ufv7dn+cqd6QDa7Ye+PQWg2rYCDISdpQtyBi0MSpVzX1Re8yNp 2gg+5ZHDesyHDIelE2tnNKyZ3vpABh3LwREoydUKaFEczEVVksjRFrCQHoxXop/+9U4n 1dpPbRgajLID7x10NGIeJ6dHdavQTC7tCRqb9lVCIQsDaj6WCtegiM94fyBB8TrUn+We vEVWvZpuLfMU8vxCRujMfSuGrDYQgUtQhkWPhbb796jszrxaNV5QhlvxQJqq89rumd4K RjL75M7gAYY7PRKfTwHiJZWWUExdgOi27k5eh18DB2vOLwxEkzeRqGL8YW+bC34GiPn0 If5g== X-Received: by 10.180.36.8 with SMTP id m8mr24812079wij.42.1395330219138; Thu, 20 Mar 2014 08:43:39 -0700 (PDT) Received: from [192.168.0.94] (static-nbl2-118.cytanet.com.cy. I think CEDET really needs to move to ELPA. Even if Richard would object to distributing some code via GNU ELPA (but, as you can notice, company-clang is still there, for now), the additional features shouldn't be too hard to modularize and distribute separately. I haven't been using Java for quite a while, but it's a language I can see myself returning to in the future more likely than C/C++.
