As additional input on this bug, it has been reported on the
emacs-help mailing list that a valid workaround is to (setq
inhibit-x-resources t) before any load-theme. Apparently, colors set
from X resources take precedence over whatever color the loaded theme
sets.
I don't know if this behavior is the desired one.
