April Project of The Month - Luminance HDR<= br />This month's Project of The Month is Luminance HDR. Luminance HDR is a complete software solution for HDR photography. HDR - High Definition Range= Imaging - is a means of processing photographs to bring out the full range= of colors and lighting available in a scene. Luminance HDR is the only Ope= n Source tool that provides this functionality.

You can read more about Luminance HDR at
https://source= forge.net/blog/potmluminance/http://twtpoll.com/03i0fe= and you can read more about the p= rojects on the ballot at https://sourceforge.net/blog/vote-potm-201206/

Apache OpenOffice 3.4
No doubt you've heard a= lot about Apache OpenOffice 3.4 in the last few weeks. It's the first rele= ase of OpenOffice under the Apache name, and SourceForge is very proud to have had a small part in this release. We're supplying some of the download= bandwidth for the 3.4 release and other Apache OpenOffice downloads. We're= also hosting the OpenOffice Templates site (
http://templa= tes.openoffice.org/) and th= e OpenOffice Extensions site (http://extensi= ons.openoffice.org)
We had several blog posts about this over the last few weeks. First, we= posted an article about how, and why, SourceForge is partnering with OpenOffice on= downloads. (
https://sourceforge.net/blog/apache-openoffice-turns-to-sourceforg= e-for-distribution/) We had= a short video (https://sourceforge.net/blog/announcing-apache-open-office-34/) showcasing some of the new fe= atures in OpenOffice 3.4. And we had an interview with Jüergen Schmidt= (https://sourc= eforge.net/blog/aoo-juergen-schmidt/) about his role in getting the release out.

Can you te= ll we're excited to be a small part of this?

Fastest Growing Projects
Each month I get a report of the fastest growing projects for the= month. Often, they contain an equal mix of familiar and new. This usually means that the familiar projects have pushed out a new release, and that th= e new projects have been discovered by a new audience.

This mont= h, these are the top ten growth projects:

OpenOffice.org: A wond= erful multiplatform and multilingual office suite.
http://sourceforge.net/projects/openofficeorg.mirror

KeePass Password = Safe: KeePass - A free open source password manager.
http://sourceforge.net/projects= /keepass

Burn: C= reate data discs with advanced data settings. Create video and audio discs, Burn = will convert if needed. Create DVD-Video discs. Recreate discs. Burn doesn'= t reinvent the wheel, it uses many powerful open source Unix utilities and = is also open source.
http://source= forge.net/projects/burn-osx=

qBittorrent: An advanced and multi-platform BitTorrent client w= ith a nice Qt4 user interface as well as a Web UI for remote control and an integ= rated search engine. qBittorrent aims to meet the needs of most users while= using as little CPU and memory as possible.

Podcasts and blog posts
We've had yet another month of great = project podcasts, and I'd like to mention some of them. If you'd like to ha= ve me interview you about your SourceForge project, or some other topic you fe= el would be of interest to the SourceForge audience, please don't hesitate = to email me at rbowen@geek.net

CMU Sphinx is a speech recognition engine. I spoke with sev= eral members of the team about their project and the surrounding speech rec= ognition and speech simulation ecosystem.
ht= tp://sourceforge.net/blog/podcast-cmusphinx/

Pentaho is a business intelligence and data an= alysis suite, compromising several complementary projects. There's also a commerci= al entity behind this project, offering commercial support and services. http://sourceforge.net/blog/podcast-pentaho/

And there was the Luminance HDR proje= ct of the month podcast.
http://sourceforge.net/blog/potmluminance/  I talked a little abou= t Luminance HDR at the start of this mailing.

Also, not a podcas= t, but I wrote a little something about Open Source games -
https://sourc= eforge.net/blog/open-source-games/
- because I find myself constantly finding more games on Sou= rceForge. It's a wonder I ever get any work done.

See our other blog posts and podcasts at http://sf.net/blog/.

= In Closing…Geeknet is hiring. Also, other jobs in open source: http://jobs.s= ourceforge.net/jobboard.php

Burn doesn'= t reinvent the wheel, it uses many powerful open source Unix utilities and = is also open source.
http://source= forge.net/projects/burn-osx=

qBittorrent: An advanced and multi-platform BitTorrent client w= ith a nice Qt4 user interface as well as a Web UI for remote control and an integ= rated search engine. qBittorrent aims to meet the needs of most users while= using as little CPU and memory as possible.
http://source= forge.net/projects/qbittorrent

MediaPortal: Turn your PC into a very advanced MediaCenter/H= TPC
htt= p://sourceforge.net/projects/mediaportal

GNU Octave Repository: Central storage place for s= cript and function files used with GNU Octave.

I spoke with sev= eral members of the team about their project and the surrounding speech rec= ognition and speech simulation ecosystem.
ht= tp://sourceforge.net/blog/podcast-cmusphinx/
