Indeed.  Since IIRC the C versions of these functions did not specify
the return value either, I removed these sentences from the doc-strings
in revision 11088 of the Emacs-24 branch.

The doc string of enlarge-window states that the function "Return nil."
However, (enlarge-window 0) returns t.
The same issue applies to shrink-window, too.
