First, could you make sure that all your CVS files are up to date with
`cvs up -Pd'?

In the absence of the /usr/lib64 -> /usr/lib symlink, run `configure',
and check the file src/config.h.  Is the line

#define HAVE_LIB64_DIR 1

commented out, or is it uncommented?
