I was thinking about adding -Z (--restorecon) to mv and having it basically do a internal restorecon on the destination. Then we could suggest people who get burnt by this to: alias mv="mv -Z" In Fedora 18 we have greatly enhanced matchpathcon, by pre-compiling the regex, so there should be very little slow down in doing this. I will work on the patch, if people agree with the idea. -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.4.12 (GNU/Linux) Comment: Using GnuPG with Mozilla - http://www.enigmail.net/ iEYEARECAAYFAlBzJzIACgkQrlYvE4MpobNG/wCeOYZTGihp2r/Om27JDYy756V9 mLUAoNX4oyg6wENjCjHgZWXACwkY3HEm =sScn -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- From debbugs-submit-bounces@debbugs.gnu.org Mon Oct 08 15:57:50 2012 Received: (at 12606) by debbugs.gnu.org; 8 Oct 2012 19:57:50 +0000 Received: from localhost ([127.0.0.1]:34201 helo=debbugs.gnu.org) by debbugs.gnu.org with esmtp (Exim 4.72) (envelope-from ) id 1TLJSY-0000xo-1r for submit@debbugs.gnu.org; Mon, 08 Oct 2012 15:57:50 -0400 Received: from joseki.proulx.com ([216.17.153.58]:33618) by debbugs.gnu.org with esmtp (Exim 4.72) (envelope-from ) id 1TLJSV-0000xd-B6; Mon, 08 Oct 2012 15:57:48 -0400 Received: from hysteria.proulx.com (hysteria.proulx.com [192.168.230.119]) by joseki.proulx.com (Postfix) with ESMTP id 5C3B3211E3; Mon, 8 Oct 2012 13:57:17 -0600 (MDT) Received: by hysteria.proulx.com (Postfix, from userid 1000) id 3B76C2DC7B; Mon, 8 Oct 2012 13:57:17 -0600 (MDT) Date: Mon, 8 Oct 2012 13:57:17 -0600 From: Bob Proulx To: Daniel J Walsh Subject: Re: bug#12606: Make mv work better with SELinux. This would be a perfect topic for the discussion list. Could we hold the discussion there? Until this because a trackable bug I am going to go ahead and close the bug ticket. Thanks!
