Message #5 received at submit <at> emacsbugs.donarmstrong.com (full text, mbox):
After setting
(setq mac-option-modifier nil)
the alt-key (option-key) combinations work as desired, but shift-alt-
key acts as if only shift had been pressed. (In the view-lossage, you
can see me pressing alt-w (for Sigma) a couple times, then shift-alt-w
(for German left quotes), which get turned into shift-W.)
(This apparently has been true for a couple of weeks now.)

Message #12 received at 1217 <at> emacsbugs.donarmstrong.com (full text, mbox):
If you set mac-option-modifier to none, it will work as expected.
I am not sure about the utility of the behaviour when the value is nil
(if any).
