Your email address and a clever or insightful quote or saying should be placed in this file before posting news or sending mail. Hi Folks, I didn't fill in any of the above since this is simply a complaint about the documentation string for the gnus-summary-move-article function and its relatives. The first sentence of that docstring states: Move the current article to a different newsgroup. That sentence is false, depending on the parameters passed. Why couldn't it read Move a group of articles to a different newsgroup. ? Then each of the subsequent cases define what the "group" is based on the parameters. This way the statement is true for all cases of input parameters. I read the first sentence and concluded that function wasn't what I needed. I then spent 10 minutes in #emacs figuring out it DOES do what I need (move marked articles). randy.yates@ti.com yates@digitalsignallabs.com From debbugs-submit-bounces@debbugs.gnu.org Tue Apr 10 16:34:50 2012 Received: (at 11056-close) by debbugs.gnu.org; 10 Apr 2012 20:34:50 +0000 Received: from localhost ([127.0.0.1]:49310 helo=debbugs.gnu.org) by debbugs.gnu.org with esmtp (Exim 4.72) (envelope-from ) id 1SHhm5-0004ht-VC for submit@debbugs.gnu.org; Tue, 10 Apr 2012 16:34:50 -0400 Received: from hermes.netfonds.no ([80.91.224.195]:50253) by debbugs.gnu.org with esmtp (Exim 4.72) (envelope-from ) id 1SHhm3-0004hj-7T for 11056-close@debbugs.gnu.org; Tue, 10 Apr 2012 16:34:47 -0400 Received: from cm-84.215.51.58.getinternet.no ([84.215.51.58] helo=stories.gnus.org) by hermes.netfonds.no with esmtpsa (TLS1.0:DHE_RSA_AES_128_CBC_SHA1:16) (Exim 4.72) (envelope-from ) id 1SHhkv-0008W5-Ka; Tue, 10 Apr 2012 22:33:37 +0200 From: Lars Magne Ingebrigtsen To: Randy Yates Subject: Re: bug#11056: 23.3; GNUS documentation error References: X-Now-Playing: Willamette's _Echo Park_: "Echo Park" Date: Tue, 10 Apr 2012 22:33:36 +0200 In-Reply-To: (Randy Yates's message of "Wed, 21 Mar 2012 10:34:53 -0500") Message-ID: User-Agent: Gnus/5.130004 (Ma Gnus v0.4) Emacs/24.1.50 (gnu/linux) MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain X-MailScanner-ID: 1SHhkv-0008W5-Ka X-Netfonds-MailScanner: Found to be clean X-Netfonds-MailScanner-From: larsi@gnus.org MailScanner-NULL-Check: 1334694817.79709@Y5deF84PUpZljU0jSXAT7w X-Spam-Status: No X-Spam-Score: -1.9 (-) X-Debbugs-Envelope-To: 11056-close Cc: 11056-close@debbugs.gnu.org X-BeenThere: debbugs-submit@debbugs.gnu.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.13 Precedence: list List-Id: List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , Sender: debbugs-submit-bounces@debbugs.gnu.org Errors-To: debbugs-submit-bounces@debbugs.gnu.org X-Spam-Score: -1.9 (-) > I didn't fill in any of the above since this is simply a complaint about the > documentation string for the gnus-summary-move-article function and its > relatives. > The first sentence of that docstring states: > Move the current article to a different newsgroup. > That sentence is false, depending on the parameters passed. > Why couldn't it read > Move a group of articles to a different newsgroup.
