Please describe exactly what actions triggered the bug
and the precise symptoms of the bug:

CVS from just now:

emacs -Q
(require 'compile) OR M-x compilation-mode
triggers 
Debugger entered--Lisp error: (wrong-type-argument keymapp nil)
  signal(wrong-type-argument (keymapp nil))
[...]

This is not sent from the emacs -Q session (cannot send mail from
there); therefore removing some details below.

If Emacs crashed, and you have the Emacs process in the gdb debugger,
please include the output from the following gdb commands:
    `bt full' and `xbacktrace'.

/usr/local/share/emacs/23.0.60/etc/DEBUG for instructions.
