Does this happen with `emacs -Q'? Because it looks like you may not be
using the gdb that comes with Emacs:

> /home/dov/.config/emacs/gdb-mi hides
> /usr/local/public-dev/share/emacs/24.0.92/lisp/progmodes/gdb-mi
